Why automatic welding outperforms manual welding in pipeline construction
Manual welding on large-diameter pipelines introduces variability at every joint. Weld quality depends on individual welder performance, fatigue, environmental conditions, and day-to-day consistency. On a 200 km pipeline project, even a small increase in repair rates has a significant impact on schedule and cost.
Automatic welding removes that variability. By mechanizing the welding torch movement and precisely controlling all welding parameters, automatic systems deliver consistent, repeatable results regardless of field conditions. For pipeline contractors working to tight NDT acceptance criteria under operators such as for example ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, NNPC or others, consistency is not a luxury, it is a requirement.

Our automatic welding services are used across oil and gas transmission pipelines, master gas system networks, water and desalination pipelines, and hydrogen-ready infrastructure. We have executed projects across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South America, working for main contractors including Larsen & Toubro, Orascom, C.A.T. International, S.A.L.P. and Techint.Project scales range from 10 km to 480 km. Pipe diameters from 6" to 64". Wall thicknesses from 8 mm to 50 mm. We adapt our procedures and equipment configuration to your specific material grade and project specification.
