SGTM-STAM GIE built the Desalinated Water Pipeline J2K in Morocco

In 2025, SGTM-STAM GIE, together with Qapqa, successfully completed the Jorf Lasfar–Khouribga (J2K) desalinated water pipeline in Morocco. This strategic OCP Group water project was developed to support the industrial operations in Khouribga, providing a reliable supply of desalinated water to phosphate mining facilities and surrounding communities.

J2K Desalinated Water Pipeline

The J2K desalinated water pipeline is a state-of-the-art infrastructure project in Morocco, designed to transport desalinated water over 200 kilometers. The facility and associated systems are equipped with:
  • High-capacity pumping stations capable of transporting up to 25,000 m³ of water per hour
  • X70 steel pipelines with diameters up to 52 inches and wall thickness 15–20 mm
  • Monitoring and protection systems, including leak detection and cathodic protection
  • Storage reservoirs with 25,000 m³ capacity
SGTM-STAM GIE successfully applied our PWT XCS automatic welding system on OCP’s J2K desalinated water pipeline project in Morocco, achieving consistent, high-quality welds with maximum efficiency in large-scale pipeline construction. This advanced desalinated water pipeline in Morocco enables the continuous supply of up to 80 million cubic meters of water per year, ensuring reliable service, operational efficiency, and safety for large-scale industrial and community use.
