Saudi Aramco launched EPC works on the Jafurah Gas Development – Export Pipeline Package #5

Saudi Aramco awarded the EPC contract for the Jafurah Export Pipelines (Package #5) to L&T Hydrocarbon Saudi Company (LTHSC), the Saudi unit of Larsen & Toubro. Package #5 (often referenced as JEPL/JEPLP) covers the installation of an export pipeline system of roughly 300+ km to evacuate processed gas from the Jafurah Gas Plant into downstream networks and tie-ins, with LTHSC acting as the Purchaser/Contractor of record on Aramco’s documentation.

Jafurah Gas Field Development – Export Pipelines – Package #5

The Jafurah Export Pipeline Project (Package #5) is a key component of Saudi Aramco’s world-class Jafurah unconventional gas development, designed to transport processed gas from the Jafurah Gas Plant to downstream networks efficiently and safely. The project spans approximately 300+ km and is executed under challenging desert conditions across Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

Package #5, awarded to L&T Hydrocarbon Saudi Company (LTHSC), includes the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the export pipeline system, along with associated tie-ins and facilities. The project is strategically critical for enabling gas evacuation, supporting domestic consumption, and facilitating LNG and NGL export capacity.

  • Pipeline length of 300+  km with X65 material, 56” diameter, and 9,5–19 mm wall thickness designed for high-pressure natural gas transmission.
  • Deployment of PWT XCS automatic welding system to ensure high-integrity, automated welds across long distances and harsh terrain.
  • Construction through remote desert areas requiring advanced logistics, environmental protection, and workforce management.
  • Integration with existing gas infrastructure and compressor stations to optimize gas evacuation and network reliability.
  • Full compliance with Saudi Aramco’s rigorous safety, quality, and environmental standards.

By combining L&T’s EPC expertise with advanced welding technology, Package #5 strengthens Saudi Arabia’s natural gas infrastructure, enhances export capability, and contributes to the kingdom’s energy diversification strategy under Saudi Vision 2030.
